This was the second release on Boogie Beat Records and the last release I was involved with on the label as right after the first release, I was offered a residency in a club on the island of Crete which was just to good to refuse. The release is notable for two things.
1) The Ritchie Malone Remix of Dance to the Melody – At this time Ritchie was enjoying huge success with his chart-topping Xpansions – Elevation. This record was blowing up all over the world.
2) Tinys First Journey – Tiny (AKA Mark Goddard) I had met during the release of Now is The Time. We had gone to his house to listen to some demos for the label and I distinctly remember seeing this little grey synth sitting on his rack. We started talking about music and music production. I asked him what that synth was. He turned it on and recorded a short looped sequence into the Atari. He then went on to play with some of the filters and the sounds (or we call them squelched) coming out of it were like nothing I had ever heard before.
The synth in question was a Roland sh101. That was my first experience of hearing Acid House in a studio environment and understanding how those sounds were made.
